Kamp for Kids

Camp Information

The registration form will be posted on May 1st. Registration ends July 19th unless we fill up beforehand.

Diabetes Incorporated provides a diabetes camp for families of children with diabetes. The 2024 diabetes family camp is held at Outlaw Ranch in the beautiful southern Black Hills from August 9th at 3:30 to August 11 at 2:00. Camp is open to families with kids ages 0 -17,18,19. We will accept any newly diagnosed, just let us know your situation. We have people come from all over the U.S., so you do not have to live in South Dakota.

At camp each family will have their own room or cabin to themselves with beds. You will bring your own bedding, towels, etc. depending on where you are staying. However, all bathrooms with be shared with other campers. You will know your lodging at least 2 weeks before camp and will have time to plan. We do provide meals through Outlaw Ranch and meals are not low-carb, but we provide all carb counts for all meals. We also will have a lot of snacks provided by Diabetes Inc.

Camp Fees

When enrolling 1 child with type 1 and 1 guardian: You must pay $10 to become a member of Diabetes Incorporated (just one membership fee per family, even if you have two diabetic kids). You must also pay the $50 registration fee for each child with type 1 and a guardian. The registration fee will be returned in the form of a check at camp. If you cancel less than 2 weeks before camp or do not show up, then your fee is forfeited. These charges are non-negotiable. Since our camp is free for a child and their guardian, we do not have scholarships for the registration fee or the membership fee. We ask that everyone who registers pay both fees ahead of camp. This is due to last-minute cancellations and people taking spots and canceling when we have a wait list.

When enrolling 1 child with type 1 and 1 guardian, as well as additional family members: There will be a fee of $100 for each extra family member, if you have extra family members, you will pay the total amount for the extra members plus the $10 membership fee (per family) and do not need to pay the $50 registration fee since you are paying for the other family members. We can use the total funds as the registration fee. If you cancel more than 2 weeks before camp, then we will reimburse your total. If you cancel in less than 2 weeks, we will deduct $50, and you will receive the amount that is left over. There are no exceptions; all fees are due at the time of registration.  We do not scholarship extra family members. If you would like to attend camp as a family we ask that you pay all fees.

The total amount is due upon registration and will count as your registration fee. You will receive all fees back if you cancel before July 25, 2023. If you cancel after July 25, then you will not receive any fees back. All fees are due at the time of registration to reserve your spot.
