Scholarship’s Objectives:
To recognize and reward students who have made an extraordinary contribution to their community and/or high school through community service and extracurricular activities. Scholarships this year are awarded in memory to Krity Carter and Micah Jerde.
Eligibility
- The 2024 – 2025 application window is closed. The 2025-2026 scholarship application will be available in January 2025.
- High school senior students who plan to continue their education beyond high school or students who are currently continuing their education beyond the high school level are welcome to apply.
- Applicants must either have type 1 diabetes or have an immediate family member who has diabetes.
- Applicants must be from or going to school in the following areas; South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Montana, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wyoming.
- We are looking for applicants that are involved in their own community, the diabetes community in their area, or with Diabetes Inc.
- Requirement 1: Applicants must become a Diabetes Incorporated member and pay $10. Our membership runs from July to June and can be paid anytime during the year. To pay for your membership, please go to our home page.
- Requirement 2: Applicants must fill out the Google Form application that will be posted on this page in January.
- Requirement 3: Applicants must email 1 reference to diabetesincorp@gmail.com. Please send refrence in an email from your email account.
- Only applicants who complete the application in its entirety by February 14, 2024 are eligible.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have been past participants and/or volunteers in our Kamp for Kids and/or Diabetes Incorporated.
Awards
- All applicants will be notified via mail by March 14, 2024.
- Diabetes Incorporated will award three $1,000 to $1,500 scholarships each year.
- The scholarships will be split between the spring and fall semesters and will be given directly to institutions to defray the costs of higher education.
- Prior-year recipients may reapply annually. Diabetes Incorporated may choose to offer additional scholarships based on the applications, funds available, and need.
